By nature, Tokay geckos are very aggressive and brave animals.  They bite when they are threatened or afraid, they bite when their angry, and they bite when they are stressed. Handling an Aggressive Gecko

Tokay Geckos are very wonderful creatures known for their aggressiveness and difficulty of handling. Of all geckos, Tokays are most likely to fight back rather than to lose their tails when threatened. This means they’ll fight rather than flight. Tokays would usually attack what they consider as an aggressor with a painful bite. This makes handling them more difficult (but nonetheless Tokays are very easy to care with proper approach and technique).
